Having an understanding of the law isn’t only beneficial for attorneys. Professionals from a variety of fields have a growing need to better understand legal matters and how to communicate effectively with lawyers. Northeastern University School of Law’s online Master of Legal Studies (MLS) program gives non-lawyers the unique opportunity to learn legal concepts without having to obtain a Juris Doctor.

The flexible Master of Legal Studies (MLS) online program was created for working professionals, and as a result, can be completed part-time. In addition to a general path of study, the program features five concentration options:

  • Business Law
  • Health Law
  • Human Resource Law
  • Intellectual Property Law
  • Public Law and Policy

Experiential Learning

The online Master of Legal Studies (MLS) was designed to help you become an expert in legal issues within your own industry. It’s an excellent way to immediately apply new learned skills in the workplace across a wide variety of industries and advance your career.

Additionally, Northeastern is a leader in experiential learning. Students in the program have the option of working on an Experiential Network opportunity—a real-life project for an employer—that helps you gain experience and build your resume and networks. Master of Legal Studies students also have access to career workshops and tools specifically designed for distance learners and graduate students, helping them become networked for life.
