Northeastern University School of Law’s online Master of Legal Studies (MLS) program gives non-lawyers the unique opportunity to learn legal concepts without having to obtain a Juris Doctor.

The flexible Master of Legal Studies (MLS) online program was created for working professionals, and as a result, can be completed part-time. In addition to a general path of study, the program features five concentration options:

  • Business Law: Explore corporate financial transactions and global business strategies. This concentration is a good fit for those interested in learning about the legal aspects of corporate and international business.
  • Health Law: Gain insights into legal regulations in healthcare services, insurance and policies, focusing on patient privacy and compliance. This concentration is ideal for navigating the complex regulatory environment of the healthcare industry.
  • Human Resource Law: Study workplace antidiscrimination laws, employee rights and benefit regulations. This concentration is essential for professionals who oversee HR practices.
  • Intellectual Property Law: Learn about the protection and management of intellectual property in today's digital era. Individuals in creative, technological and innovation-driven industries will benefit most from this concentration.
  • Public Law and Policy: Investigate the intersection of law and public policy with coursework that focuses on current societal issues. This concentration is ideal for those seeking to influence policy and governance across various sectors.
